Nestled in the bowels of the mountain, this immense military structure - the largest in Switzerland open to the public - today reveals its secrets: former troop dormitories, command posts, period artillery and a striking exhibition on the Cold War. The spectacular "Metro del Sasso" gives you access to a fascinating underground world that bears witness to a bygone era.
But this unique site is much more than a military relic: it's also home to a daring cultural section where History, Nature and Myth meet. Giant crystals, cabinets of curiosities, a light show on the watershed and a rare permanent exhibition dedicated to Goethe and his travels on the Gotthard await you. A true journey through Swiss heritage, the spiritual defense of the country and Alpine beauty, to be experienced from early June to mid-October.
